2023 senatorial elections: second session as of right of the Electoral Board!

Members of the Electoral Board held their second session as of right on Wednesday, 1 February 2023, at the Directorate General of Elections, where they started proceedings to scrutinise candidacy files.

The items on the agenda of this session include:

  • Summary of the field trip of Board members from 19 to 29 January 2023 and analysis of the recommendations
  • Examination and adoption of the working methodology to scrutinise candidacy files;
  • Organisation and functioning of the Electoral Board’s general commission in charge of examining and approving candidacies and distribution of the working groups
  • Opening of the scrutiny of candidacy files;

In his preliminary remarks, the Chairperson of the Electoral Board, Enow Abrams Egbe, invited his colleagues to ensure that all lists of candidates, without exception, comply with the provisions relating to the consideration of gender and sociological components as prescribed by the legislator.

In conclusion, Enow Abrams Egbe, stressed that the Electoral Board will do everything possible to ensure a credible, secure, inclusive and peaceful election.
