Role of electoral stakeholders

Political Parties

Among electoral stakeholders, political parties play an extremely important role for they contribute in enabling citizens to exercise their voting rights.

In this respect, political parties must bear in mind that an election is not prepared on the eve of polls. Thus, prior to commencement of the revision of electoral registers, they must formulate strategies designed to:

  • mobilise and guide citizens towards enrolling on the electoral registers ;
  • assist their militants and adherents in obtaining their National Identity Card (NIC), a document that facilitates identification of these citizens.

Political parties must equally master provisions of the new Electoral Code in order to best understand their role in the electoral process and subsequently play it fully at the right time.
