The Director General of Elections

 

Born on 5 July 1951 in Ndokagnak, Erik ESSOUSE hails from Yingui Subdivision, under Nkam Division, in the Littoral Region.

 

After undergoing university studies, Erik ESSOUSSE graduated with a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Yaounde in 1976.

 

In 1978, he obtained a post-graduate diploma in International Relations at the Université de Paris Sorbonne I,

 

He went on to obtain a Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies in International Relations, in 1979, at the same University.

 

In 1982, Erik ESSOUSSE, was awarded a Doctorat de 3ème Cycle in International Relations at the Université de Paris Sorbonne II.

 

After obtaining a Diplôme de l'Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales at l'Université de Paris, he opted to return to Cameroon.

 

Before his appointment on 28 May 2018 as Director General of Elections, Erik ESSOUSSE has held top administrative positions.

As lecturer in the National School of Administration and Magistracy, Erik ESSOUSSE is a co-author of the book, "Informatisation des Processus Electoraux en Afrique", published by l’Harmattan in 2004. He is also author of the book, "Liberté de la Presse Ecrite au Cameroun in 2008", also published by l’Harmattan in 2006.

 

In 2008, a presidential decree appointed him Deputy Director General of Elections, a position he held for 10 years until May 2018.

 

The Deputy Director General of Elections

 

Abdoulkarimou was born on 16 October 1972 at Mayo-Djinga in Mayo-Banyo Division under the Adamawa region.

In 1998, he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Management, majoring in Finance, at the University of Yaounde II Soa.

 

In 2000, he graduated as a Civil Administrator from the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM).

 

Abdoulkarimou has been Inspector in charge of Electoral Matters since 2016. Thanks to experience gathered from this position, he has notably been lecturer on the electoral process at the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM); formed part of a think tank on 2018 electoral operations.

On 28 May 2018, the Head of State confirmed the trust he has in Abdoulkarimou by appointing him Deputy Director General of Elections.

 

On 28 May 2018, by decree of the President of the Republic, Erik ESSOUSSE and Abdoulkarimou were respectively appointed to the positions of Director General of Elections and Deputy Director General of Elections, with the maiden challenge, within this election, of preparing and organising free, fair, credible and transparent elections in Cameroon.
