While the electoral process is proceeding normally, officials of the Directorate General of Elections and Regional Delegates are assessing the work done so far within the framework of the presidential election of 7 October 2018. From the 23 to 24 October 2018, Erik Essousse and his team will take stock of the organisation of the said poll. The first day of this meeting will focus on the electoral and financial evaluation of the process while on Wednesday, 24 October 2018, participants will discuss handling of the electoral register at the regional level and other matters. At the end of these two days of exchange, conclusions arrived at will enable lessons to be drawn on observed irregularities, as well as areas to improve for a hitch-free organisation of the envisaged polls in 2019. This sitting comes just a day after the Constitutional Council proclaimed the winner of the presidential election for a seven-year term.
