#237vote First Session as of Right of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon

Legislative and Municipal Elections of 9 February 2020: the democratic process machine in motion

Section 19 of the Electoral Code provides that: “During an election, the Electoral Board shall meet as often as necessary”. It is in this respect and in the wake of the convening of the electorate by the Head of State on the 9th of November 2019 that the First Session as of Right of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon met on Friday, 15 November 2019, as from 10 am, in the Conference Room at the Head Office, in view of the 9 February 2020 legislative and municipal elections. In his opening statement, the Chairperson of the Electoral Board, ENOW Abrams EGBE, commended Members of the Electoral Board for the promptness with which they heeded his invitation, despite the short notice afforded them. ENOW Abrams EGBE then affirmed that the countdown has started and that time is henceforth running against the election institution of Cameroon. The Chairperson of the Electoral Board equally reassured media professionals on the measures taken by ELECAM to ensure the organisation of inclusive, free and transparent elections.
