#237Vote 8th session as of right of the Electoral Board related to the legislative and municipal elections of 9 February 2020

Following a decision of the Constitutional in favour of a re-run of legislative elections in 11 (eleven) constituencies of the North-West and South-West Regions, and notification of the Electoral Board, in keeping with provisions of Electoral Code, the said Board held its 8th session as of right on Tuesday, 3 March 2020, in the Conference Room of the Elections Cameroon head office, located within the administrative neighbourhood. In his opening statement, the Chairperson of the Electoral Board, Chairperson of Elections Cameroon pointed out that the elections constitute a highly delicate and sensitive moment in the democratic process of Cameroon, and that the stakes are all the more important, given the socio-political atmosphere reigning in the North-West and South-West Regions.

This 8th session as of right focused on the re-run of legislative elections in eleven constituencies of the North-West and South-West Regions. In this respect, it was revealed that while awaiting the convening of electors by the Head of State, Elections Cameroon is already making all necessary material arrangements to guarantee full success of the said election within these constituencies.

ENOW ABRAMS EGBE concluded his statement by calling on candidates, electors as well as media practitioners for greater responsibility and to show proof of civic behaviour, particularly as from the commencement of the election campaign.
